A group of Year 10 and 11’s from Gumley House School went on a fascinating Geography trip to Iceland last week. They went on Wednesday 20 February to Sunday 24 February, and enjoyed it very much. Catherine Albertini, a Year 10 geography student, said “My favourite parts were the blue lagoon, seeing the geysers and the glacier, but I loved all of it.” Catherine added the trip has helped her in her Geography studies and she has gained a lot of knowledge. “I learnt about the Icelandic culture and their history. I think it has helped me with my studies as I now know more geographical terms and I saw some landforms, which I have been learning about recently, in real life and they were astonishing.”

The Northern Lights (or the Aurora Borealis) weren’t seen, despite “staying up all night to see the spectacular sight”. They visited the active volcano which erupted in 2010 and caused a lot of disruption all over the world. Amalia Martinez-Botaz, Year 10 student thought it was an “amazing experience and one that I would love to do again in the future.”
