As an A-level student myself I truly understand just how difficult school life can be. The saying ‘school years are the best years of your life’ is often hard to appreciate when you have two essays, a biology project and maths homework all in for next week.
Although most teenagers like to think they know everything, in actual fact, with only sixteen years of life experience when choosing A-level options, we’re pretty clueless. A-levels are arguably the first step in choosing your life path, before long you will be thinking of life after school and considering job prospects. At this age many don’t know what they want to do for the rest of their life and these huge decisions are not made easier by having the daunting reminder that exams aren’t far away.
On top of this added pressure comes from feeling as though you have to participate in multiple extracurricular activities in order to stand out when applying for a job or university. With homework, revision and extracurricular activities it easy to feel as though you have become swamped with work and I believe many forget just how daunting this can be.
Although it is a necessary process that everyone must take, it does not make it any easier. I believe it is extremely important to appreciate just how difficult school can be in addition to understanding that students can’t be perfect all the time. Students should not feel these pressures and should be praised for the extensive amount of work they put in to their education.
