Mathew Cutler, a 39 year old former World Latin America Dance Champion and winner of the 2007 Strictly Come Dancing Series, is currently enjoying great success in a new path of dance: teaching.
Alongside dance professional Enrico Stey; the two have started the Croydon-based “Mattico Dance Studio” which looks to have already been a hit with Carshalton locals.
“Its brilliant” Says Wendy Williams, a Mum from Carshalton who attends their Tuesday and Wednesday sessions, “anyone can come and people do; from all sorts of ages.
“The youngest there are probably about 15, while the oldest are in their fifties! The teachers are wonderful as well.
They’re both very patient, and you enjoy going there and being a part of it all. Certainly good for keeping you fit and moving, especially in this age of rising obesity levels.
Strictly Come Dancing, which has become an integral part of many Brits’ lives with shows on throughout the week when active, invites celebrities to pair up with professional dancers and battle it out with other celebrities to win.
The entrants have ranged from the awful, who will forget the horrifying sight of Ann Widecombe attempting the Salsa, to sensational, such as Alicia Dixons wonderful victory which led to her becoming a judge on the show, albeit for a short time.
It was with Mathew Cutler that she performed this feet and if he’s good enough for a world renowned pop star, he might just be good enough for the people of Carshalton.
