After a challenging game of intense football during Wednesday 17 March lunch time on the field of Lampton School, the school staff squad just about managed to beat; the Sixth Form squad with a 2-1 win. Although both teams thoroughly demonstrated their skills of rapid runs, impressive tackles and accurate strikes, the match was played firmly under the fine refereeing of Mr Whyms and played strictly for Sport Relief support reasons! And while players on both sides gave it their all in a sportsmanlike fashion, volunteers collected the spare change off of all the enthusiastic pitch-side supporters willing to contribute, entirely to be donated to the Sport Relief fundraiser.

But that is not where Lampton School’s support ends. The staff and students, still determined to raise as much money as possible, decided to arrange more activities to acquire funds for the campaign to help the underprivileged, living in both the UK and some of the world’s most undeveloped countries.

On Tuesday 23 March, an exciting and enjoyable basketball game with pupils vs. teachers was held during the lunch hour in Lampton’s sports hall. The teachers faced a tough challenge as the students were boosted by the presence of star players from the basketball team, currently in the National Under 16s League. Their coach, Mr Alan Keane, was fighting on the teachers’ side along with several of his colleagues. 50p was a small price to pay for the eager audience to participate in cheering on their favoured team, with the money to be contributed to the funding of new requisite basketball resources. Unfortunately for the teachers, they had to admit defeat at the very last minute. However it was smiles all round for the triumphant basketball team as they won, even if only by a mere 7 point difference with 71-64.

And if that’s still not enough, students of Lampton ran a mile in their games lessons in order to support sport relief. For the form group to enter, they had to make a generous class donation at the beginning of the lesson, all of which went to Sport Relief.

So have you done to contribute for Sport Relief?
