Italian restaurant Seraffino has opened in Wallington, replacing Blacks restaurant and bar. The restaurant's owners, Harry, Gabriela and business partner and chef, Afrim. opened the doors on 9 September. First impressions of Seraffino’s did not disappoint.

Following a refurbishment costing approximately £40,000, the restaurant can seat 65 people inside, and 25 on the outdoor patio. Its sleek interior and its kitchen is in full view of the customers, giving them a front row seat to the chef’s cooking.

I received a warm reception when I went along. Traditional Italian dishes are the pride of the establishment and include ‘Costolette di Agnello’, comprising lamb chops with plum sauce and potato rosti, and ‘Scalopa di Spigolo’ which is roasted sea bass with potatoes and onion salsa.

I also received a complimentary basket of fresh Italian bread alongside a dish of olive oil; a great way to start a promising meal.

The co-owner of the restaurant explained: “It’s our first business and we have had our challenges, but we’ve got experience from working in other restaurants”. Their experience is evident, as the service was quick and efficient and the food sublime; in fact I found it hard to find a criticism. The toilets were in pristine condition, even the simple gesture of placing a bottle of fragranced hand cream by the sink was enough to get my seal of approval. It was a well thought out decision to place a bar in the restaurant, where one can have an introductory drink whilst salivating in anticipation of the food. Seraffino’s is no doubt worth a visit or two. Or three.
