Torchwood celebrated the release of the Miracle Day DVD box set yesterday with a public signing in HMV at Oxford Circus. The signing was scheduled for the 29th of November at 6pm, with access only to people who had bought a wristband at 8:30 that morning. Eve Myles and John Barrowman would be making the appearance to promote the release and meet those who had managed to grab one of the 300 wristbands on sale.

Even those who had been unable to get a wristband turned up to take photos and watch as the two stars appeared, both of them holding a copy of the DVD. John Barrowman had also brought his parents along, who stood at the back as Eve and John sat down to start signing. Fans got into their lines and began to come up to the stage, giving the Torchwood celebrities gifts and talking to them as much as possible before they were hurried along, their newly signed box set in hand.

Due to time restrictions, Eve and John only managed to stay for half an hour before being escorted out, waving to everyone as they went. They were incredibly nice and thankful to everyone who turned up, and tried to talk for as long as they could with every fan.

Afterwards, some fans went around to the back of HMV to see if they could spot Eve and John going home. John exited with his parents and left quickly, and fans screamed to Eve, who saw them and tried to come over to greet them; two of them being described by Eve as her ‘number one fans’, so she said on a radio show prior to the signing. However her bouncers stopped her from going over and, looking annoyed, she relented and left.

The event was a great success, and all of the fans left with their signed copies, glad to have met the stars. We can only wait for Series 5 of Torchwood to arrive now!
